Breast lift - mastopexy

What it is
This is a type of surgery to correct droopy breasts. There are different ways to do this, some of which include fitting breast implants. Your surgeon will discuss different options with you.

What it involves
Under a general anaesthetic cuts are made around the breast and nipples and the skin is tightened. Your nipples will also be moved to a higher position to give a pert, youthful look to your breasts.  You’ll usually need to spend 1-2 nights in hospital. As well as possible complications from the procedure itself - such as excessive bleeding or infection, this also carries the risks associated with all major surgical procedures.

Questions to ask
How long will it take to recover?
It varies, but you should be back to work/light duties in 3-6 weeks.

Will I see the results straight away?
No. Your breasts will be swollen so they’ll look a lot bigger than you had planned – but don’t panic! Swelling will subside gradually and the shape will continue to improve over the following months.

Things to look out for
Aging skin will still give way to gravity eventually, meaning uplift surgery may not be long lasting.

Your chances of fast healing and minor scarring are improved if you don’t smoke.

You mustn’t lift anything above your head for 3-4 weeks after surgery.

Does it hurt?
Yes. Your breasts will be swollen and bruised after surgery.

Expect to pay

£3500 - £5000
