Nose reshaping - rhinoplasty

What it is
This is cosmetic surgery to change the shape/size of your nose. You might wish to reshape your nose if you think it is too big, or uneven, or misshapen through injury. Nose reshaping can also help with some breathing difficulties.

What it involves
Rhinoplasty involves making cuts through the nostrils and/or adding implants.  Scarring is generally minimal. It can be done with either local or general anaesthetic, and you will usually need an overnight stay in hospital. As well as possible complications from the procedure itself - such as excessive bleeding or infection, this also carries the risks associated with all major surgical procedures.

Questions to ask
Can anyone have this done?
No. It’s not recommended for under 16’s as the nose is still growing.

How long does the surgery take?
Usually about two hours.

Will I bleed afterwards?
Yes, some bleeding is normal and you will be prone to nose bleeds initially. However, excessive bleeding should be checked out asap.

Things to look out for
You will have to wear a splint on your nose for about a week after the op.

It takes time for the full results to show: you’ll see an immediate improvement, but it will continue to improve over the next few months.

You should be able to go back to work within a couple of weeks, but it really depends on how you feel about facing the world with any bruising or swelling you might have.

Does it hurt?
Yes. You will be bruised and swollen for some weeks afterwards.

Expect to pay

£3000 - £4000
